>I think Day of Silence has done a good job of bringing awareness to the plight of LGBT students, but real change begins with peer-to-peer relations, parents, and teachers. Parents and teachers need to emphasize to their kids that homophobia is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

>If I was to be silent all day tomorrow, are we aloud to write down why we are doing so on a piece of paper and show it to people when they look at me weird for not responding?

>As a person who identifies as straight, it means letting my glbt brothers and sisters know that I stand with them, and support them and have their backs when the hatred has them up against the wall! Lean on me! I am my brother/sister's keeper, and when I am they are mine, and we are just the human family. Plain and simple. I'm sick of the pain, the hurt, and the humiliation that some one has to face because of who they are. It's not fair, it's not right, and it's time it stops, and that starts right now with me and my stand in the Day of Silence.

>it means no voice and you make a bigger change if you are completly silent but you have to make it known what you are being silent for or it makes no difference.
