>SSIA and SNDA Gain Support on Capitol Hill

>GLSEN helped put on a press conference on Capitol Hill yesterday in support of the Safe Schools Improvement Act and the Student Non-Discrimination Act, crucial legislation to address anti-LGBT bullying and discrimination in schools.

GLSEN Executive Director Eliza Byard; supporters Clay Aiken and Louis Van Amstel; mothers Sirdeaner Walker and Tammy Aaberg; student Joey Kemmerling; and bill sponsors Senators Bob Casey and Al Franken and Representatives Linda Sanchez and Bob Casey all took part.

Elizabeth Free is the communications manager at GLSEN--the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network. Elizabeth joined GLSEN in 2009 to make schools safer for all students and says one of the best parts of her job is working with GLSEN's Student Ambassadors. She is originally from Texas and has a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising from the University of Houston.
