>I am truly ashamed of my state. I wish people here in South Carolina were more accepting. I fully support LGBT rights, I'm not gay, and I extremely stand out for that. I wish it wasn't like this here. I just want acceptance.

>Maybe I missed it, but I didn't quite understand where the harassment was taking place. If it is on school property, school admin. have a duty to stop it. If it is at the school, there needs to be enforcement of current policy, or a written policy if none exists. Near the end of the report the reporter voice over talks about what this child can do on an individual level. That is good and necessary, but also good and necessary is the swift intervention-by adults when any bullying or harassment happens. And, we need primary prevention education in the schools and other social institutions. Social justice is not sustainable on the individual level. We need allies and we need them to speak even when their voice shakes!<br />Corina - Ohio

>Pretty courageous guy to be so open and public about his experience. Wow. And guess what? Every time there is a referendum on gay marriage -- even if our side should win -- it feeds into the notion of LGBT people being less than. Also, in case people think homophobia only hurts LBGT students, think again. You don't have to be gay to suffer -- just perceived as gay.

>Sooo sorry for this boy. Those others hear it from their parents. People need to be educated. As long as we do not have equal rights, we all will be treated, and fight feelings of second class citizenery. I am 59 yrs. old & have been putting up with this stuff a long time. It needs to be stopped, because it has a profound effect upon ones self esteem & productivity.
