>Second Year Student Ambassador Volunteers at GLSEN National for the Summer

>My name is Jesse Tauber and I’m volunteering with GLSEN this summer. I’m a rising high school senior and a transgender FTM.

I’ve been working with GLSEN for what seems like forever now after discovering them through a Day of Silence tweet chat in 2009. I am a second year GLSEN Student Ambassador, helping to represent GLSEN and the LGBTQ youth community in several media outlets.

People always ask me what I want to do when I get to college or with my life in general and the truth is I’m not really sure yet. However, I know that whatever I do it will be something that has to do with the mission that GLSEN strives to achieve. As a student who knows the torment of bulling and discrimination, nothing is more important to me than knowing that every student has a safe school to attend.

I’m excited to be working with GLSEN this summer and hope that the experience I have here is not only valuable for me, but for all involved. It is really such an honor to be a part of an organization that does such amazing work and has impacted not only my life, but the lives of so many others.
